Nitro Runaway 146 - Review

I went to Loveland today for the industrial demo day and got the chance to ride the Nitro Runaway 146 with Raiden Eris bindings after a friend kept telling me good things about this board from the On Snow demo back in February, so why not?

Mountain: Loveland
Weather: Sunny!!
Snow: Not bad, some icy spots and some tracked out snow

Bindings: Raiden Eris
Boots: 32 Lashed size 6.5

Raiden Eris bindings with sweet animal prints

The Runaway is Nitro's popular womens board and it's supposed to be an aggressive park board. I wanted to try the one with the Gullwing rocker, but they didn't have it available, so I rode the regular Runaway.

BUTTER IT!
No, not buttery at all... pressing is possible, but it's so stiff that you can't really press high enough. The board felt particularly stiff in the middle

SWITCH IT UP!

This board was very easy to ride switch... didn't feel different from when I was riding regular and I felt quite comfortable riding ass-backwards

POP IT!
The pop didn't really stand out to me, but it did have some pop. I couldn't ollie super high like I have with some other boards.

BOMB IT!
When going fast, this board excelled. It was very stable and felt like it was meant to go fast. No chatter or anything bad. It also held an edge very well as I carved down.

SPIN TO WIN!
Low spin weight, I popped little spins off the run and on the super-fat box just fine.

ARTSY-FARTSY!
The graphics are so RAD! There's a million different things to discover on this board, and they're all little random things that somehow blend together. I don't know if you guys did this when you were little, but when I was younger, I had this black plastic sheet... when you scratched the black off, rainbow colors would appear, so you were making rainbow lines kinda... this board looks like that!!

THE VERDICT?!
While this was a solid board, this board isn't for me. I prefer a softer board with more pop... this might be a good board for me on powder days however. I would say this might be a good match for a girl who likes to go fast everywhere, spin, and doesn't do a lot of pressing. It is a fun board in the park, I wish Loveland had jumps so I could try it off there... I would definitely jump this board.

Disclaimer - this board was demoed, I gave it back to Nitro when I was done with it
